Richard Searfoss autographed flight-flown cover documenting carriage aboard a T-37A aircraft. The cover is completed in manuscript with the flight details, including aircraft T-37A, serial no. 82-0887, April 17, 1990 flight date, flight duration of 1.1 hours, pilot Major Rick Searfoss, and the remark, “Takeoff and landing performance tests.” Searfoss has signed in black ink.

Richard A. Searfoss (1956-2018) was a U.S. Air Force officer, test pilot, and NASA astronaut. Selected as a NASA astronaut in 1990, he flew three Space Shuttle missions: STS-58 in 1993, STS-76 in 1996, and STS-90 in 1998, logging more than 939 hours in space. His missions included life sciences research, the third docking of a Space Shuttle with the Russian Mir space station, and the Neurolab mission dedicated to neuroscience research. Before joining NASA, Searfoss served as an Air Force test pilot and accumulated extensive experience flying high-performance military aircraft.
