Christopher C. Kraft Jr. autographed Conquest of Space First Day Cover commemorating the issuance of the Skylab 10¢ U.S. postage stamp. Postmarked Houston, Texas, May 14, 1974, the cover features an Artopages cachet depicting the early U.S. space program and has been boldly signed by Kraft in black ink.

Christopher C. Kraft Jr. (1924–2019) was NASA’s first Flight Director and one of the principal architects of the United States’ human spaceflight program. He directed mission operations during the Mercury and Gemini programs and played a central role in the Apollo missions, including the Apollo 11 Moon landing. Kraft later served as Director of Flight Operations and subsequently as Director of the Johnson Space Center, helping establish many of the mission control procedures that remain the foundation of NASA flight operations.
