James A. McDivitt and Kenneth S. Kleinknecht autographed Conquest of Space commemorative cover featuring a Space Unit postal cachet. Postmarked Lake Katrine, New York, February 5, 1977, the cover has been signed by McDivitt in green ink and by Kleinknecht in black ink.

James A. McDivitt (1929–2022) was a NASA astronaut who commanded Gemini 4, during which Ed White performed America’s first spacewalk, and later commanded Apollo 9, the mission that successfully tested the Lunar Module in Earth orbit. He subsequently served in senior NASA management roles during the Apollo program.

Kenneth S. Kleinknecht (1929–2005) was a NASA engineer and manager who played a central role in the development of the Apollo spacecraft. As Apollo Spacecraft Program Manager, he oversaw the command and service module program through the later Apollo missions and later directed the agency’s Space Shuttle program office during its early development.
