Charlie E. McCoy autographed World War II Memorial Station commemorative cover postmarked in Midland, Texas, on September 3, 1995. McCoy has signed the cover in blue ink beneath the cachet depicting a B-29 Superfortress in flight.

Charlie E. McCoy served as a tail gunner with the 303rd Bombardment Group during World War II. He later participated in the atomic bombing mission against Hiroshima as the tail gunner aboard one of the accompanying B-29 observation aircraft that flew with the strike force on August 6, 1945. The mission documented and observed the historic operation carried out by the Enola Gay, contributing to the official record of the first wartime use of an atomic weapon.
