Thomas W. Ferebee autographed 10 x 8” glossy black-and-white U.S. Air Force photograph depicting General Carl A. Spaatz attending the crew interrogation of members of the 509th Composite Group following the successful atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. The reverse bears the original U.S. Air Force caption identifying the scene as the post-mission debriefing on Tinian Island, Mariana Islands. Ferebee has signed and inscribed the image in blue ink, “Thomas W. Ferebee, Bombardier Enola Gay.”

Thomas W. Ferebee (1918–2000) served as the bombardier aboard the B-29 Enola Gay during the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Selected by Colonel Paul W. Tibbets for the highly secretive 509th Composite Group, Ferebee was responsible for aiming and releasing the “Little Boy” atomic bomb over Hiroshima. A veteran bombardier with an exceptional wartime record, he later participated in Operation Crossroads, the postwar atomic weapons tests conducted at Bikini Atoll, before retiring from the U.S. Air Force after more than 25 years of military service.
