George Caron and Wyatt E. Duzenbury autographed 7 x 5” black-and-white crew photograph mounted on a blue presentation board depicting members of the Enola Gay crew shortly after the historic Hiroshima mission. Caron, the aircraft’s tail gunner, and Duzenbury, the assistant flight engineer, have each signed the mount in ballpoint pen beneath the image. Affixed to the reverse is a printed identification sheet listing the members of the Enola Gay crew, identifying each individual pictured and noting the two crew members absent from the photograph: Navy Captain William S. Parsons and Lieutenant Morris Jeppson.

George R. Caron (1919–1995) served as the tail gunner aboard the Enola Gay during the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. From his position in the rear of the aircraft, Caron witnessed and photographed the massive mushroom cloud created by the detonation, producing some of the mission’s most iconic images. He remained in the U.S. Air Force after the war, retiring as a Master Sergeant.

Wyatt E. Duzenbury (1923–1998) served as the assistant flight engineer on the Enola Gay during its historic mission over Hiroshima. As part of Colonel Paul W. Tibbets Jr.‘s hand-selected 509th Composite Group, Duzenbury helped ensure the aircraft’s mechanical systems operated flawlessly throughout one of the most consequential flights in aviation history. Dual-signed crew photographs featuring members of the Enola Gay are highly desirable artifacts documenting the personnel who participated in the first atomic bombing mission of World War II.
