Fine condition.
George R. Caron (1919-1995) served as the tail gunner aboard the B-29 Enola Gay during the August 6, 1945 mission that dropped the “Little Boy” atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. As the only enlisted member of the twelve-man crew, Caron occupied the rear gun position and became the first person to radio a description of the mushroom cloud after the detonation, famously reporting that it “looked like a pot of boiling black molasses.” Awarded the Silver Star for his role in the mission, Caron remained one of the most recognizable members of the historic Enola Gay crew.
