Charlie Duke autographed color postcard depicting the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga (CVS-14), the recovery ship for the Apollo 16 mission. The reverse bears a Cape Canaveral, Florida, postmark dated April 27, 1972, and an Apollo-themed commemorative postage stamp. Duke has signed the postcard in black ink on the address side.

Charles M. “Charlie” Duke Jr. (b. 1935) is a retired U.S. Air Force brigadier general, test pilot, and NASA astronaut who served as lunar module pilot of Apollo 16. On April 21, 1972, Duke became the tenth person to walk on the Moon, spending more than 20 hours on the lunar surface with Commander John W. Young while conducting scientific exploration in the Descartes Highlands. Earlier in the Apollo program, Duke served as CAPCOM during the Apollo 11 mission, relaying the historic message confirming the first lunar landing. Apollo 16 concluded with the crew’s successful recovery aboard USS Ticonderoga on April 27, 1972.
