Fine condition.
Captain Joseph E. Westover was a pilot in the elite 509th Composite Group, the Army Air Forces unit created to deliver the world’s first atomic weapons. He was the regular commander of the Silverplate B-29 Strange Cargo, one of the specially modified aircraft assigned to the group’s highly secret atomic operations. Although Strange Cargo did not fly the Hiroshima or Nagasaki strike missions, it formed part of the operational fleet that trained, tested, and stood ready in support of the Manhattan Project and the atomic bombing campaign that brought World War II to an end.
