Theodore “Dutch” Van Kirk autographed 10 x 8” glossy black-and-white U.S. Air Force photograph depicting Colonel Hazen J. Payette, Group Intelligence Officer, briefing Major Thomas W. Ferebee, Colonel Paul W. Tibbets, and Captain Theodore J. Van Kirk prior to the Hiroshima atomic bomb mission on Tinian, Mariana Islands. The reverse bears the original U.S. Air Force caption identifying the historic scene. Van Kirk has signed the image in black ink.

Theodore “Dutch” Van Kirk (1921–2014) served as the navigator aboard the B-29 Enola Gay during the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. A skilled navigator with the elite 509th Composite Group, Van Kirk was responsible for guiding the aircraft from Tinian to Hiroshima and safely returning the crew after the mission. He later participated in Operation Crossroads, the 1946 atomic tests at Bikini Atoll, before completing his military service. Following the war, Van Kirk enjoyed a successful career in business while remaining active in preserving the history of the atomic missions through lectures, reunions, and educational programs.
