Paul W. Tibbets Jr. autographed Japanese Government-issued 10 Centavos occupation currency note. Printed for circulation in the Japanese-occupied Philippines during World War II, the note has been signed by Tibbets in blue ink across the lower portion of the face. The reverse displays the ornate engraved design characteristic of the series.

Paul W. Tibbets Jr. (1915-2007) served as commander of the 509th Composite Group and aircraft commander of the Boeing B-29 Enola Gay during the atomic bombing mission over Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Personally selected to lead the atomic strike force, Tibbets piloted Enola Gay as it delivered the “Little Boy” atomic bomb over Hiroshima, the first use of a nuclear weapon in warfare. He remained in the U.S. Air Force after the war, retiring with the rank of brigadier general following a distinguished military career.
