Kennedy, William J. Brennan Jr., and Byron R. White, representing some of the most influential jurists of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. The covers commemorate a variety of subjects and bear period first day issue cancellations, creating an appealing collection of judicial autographs.
Included in the group are a Pueblo Indian Pottery First Day Cover signed by Clarence Thomas, a Herbert Hoover First Day Cover signed by Anthony Kennedy, an International Court of Justice First Day Cover signed by William J. Brennan Jr., and a Bill of Rights First Day Cover signed by Byron R. White.

Clarence Thomas (b. 1948) has served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States since 1991. Nominated by President George H. W. Bush, he is currently the longest-serving member of the Court.
Anthony M. Kennedy (b. 1936) served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1988 until 2018. Appointed by President Ronald Reagan, Kennedy frequently served as the Court’s pivotal swing vote and authored landmark opinions involving constitutional rights, federalism, and individual liberties.
William J. Brennan Jr. (1906-1997) served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1956 to 1990. Widely regarded as one of the most influential justices of the twentieth century, he authored numerous landmark opinions involving civil rights, free speech, and constitutional protections.
Byron R. White (1917-2002) served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1962 to 1993. Prior to his judicial career, he was a Rhodes Scholar, naval officer, and All-American football player who later led the NFL in rushing during his brief professional football career.
