Illustrated literary newspaper featuring the engraved illustration "An Unexpected Discovery" and the serialized tale "The Haunted Castle" by John Bird. Published during the opening months of the Mexican-American War, the issue combines popular fiction, illustrations, and contemporary news in one of the period's best-known literary newspapers.
