Original twenty-page manuscript payment ledger maintained in New Hampshire between 1817 and 1820, recording a wide variety of day-to-day transactions, labor charges, agricultural production, transportation services, and cash accounts. Written entirely in period iron gall ink, the ledger provides a detailed snapshot of rural New England commerce during the early nineteenth century.

The ledger records dozens of named individuals engaged in routine business, including payments for horse and wagon transportation, hauling goods to factories and Charlestown, plowing, carting, cider making, vinegar production, apples, hay, corn, barrels, straw, and numerous other agricultural products and services.
