Robert Lenox autographed June 1, 1797 court document signed as Alderman for the City. The document orders Benjamin Wolf (painter) to appear at the next session of the Court of General Sessions of the Peace in New York City concerning assault and battery by Hamilton Moon, or be charged with 20 pounds for failing to appear.
Toning along repaired fold lines (repairs on verso), else overall in fine condition for a document of this age.
Robert Lenox (December 31, 1759 – December 13, 1839) was a Scottish-American merchant who served as the 15th president of the Saint Andrew's Society of the State of New York.
