Details:
Original 11 x 17-inch double-sided broadside poster issued by the Attica Brigade in support of the historic Farah Manufacturing Company strike. One side features the headline “Basta Ya! We’ve Had Enough!” with text outlining the demands of the predominantly Mexican American women workers, condemning low wages, poor working conditions, discrimination, and union-busting tactics, while urging support for the labor movement with the slogan “Farah Slacks Off the Racks!” The reverse features a striking image of a protesting worker beneath the headline “Viva La Huelga!” encouraging participation in demonstrations against Farah and expressing solidarity with the striking garment workers.
The Farah strike (1972-1974) became one of the most significant labor actions of the era, drawing national attention to the efforts of predominantly Mexican American women seeking union representation, improved wages, and better working conditions. The Attica Brigade, a radical student organization active during the early 1970s, promoted the strike as part of a broader campaign supporting labor rights, anti-imperialism, and social justice movements.
Overall good condition with light expected age toning and wear, including a tear to the lower left corner. The torn corner tip still remains just slightly attached.
