Harper’s Weekly: A Journal of Civilization (New York), Vol. V, No. 253, November 2, 1861. Complete illustrated newspaper featuring a front-page engraving of the Confederate steamer Merrimac, razeed and iron-clad, based on a sketch furnished by a mechanic employed on board. Also illustrated is Henrico County Jail, Richmond, Virginia, from a sketch supplied by a Union prisoner who had been confined there. The issue contains additional Civil War reports, articles, and engravings.

Good to very good condition. Light overall toning with scattered edge wear, small chips, and short tears along the margins, consistent with age and handling.
