Complete issue featuring the front cover engraving "The Heroes of the Battle of Pittsburg Landing," depicting prominent Union commanders following the Battle of Shiloh, including Ulysses S. Grant, William T. Sherman, Don Carlos Buell, Lew Wallace, John A. McClernand, Stephen A. Hurlbut, Benjamin M. Prentiss, William Nelson, and Thomas L. Crittenden. Published just weeks after one of the Civil War's bloodiest early battles, the issue also contains contemporary reports, illustrations, and news relating to the conflict.

Fair condition. Light overall toning with scattered foxing, edge wear, chips, and short tears along the margins. There is a nearly full width tear on the back page. The issue is loose along the entire spine but remains complete, consistent with age and handling.
