Harper’s Weekly: A Journal of Civilization (New York), Vol. IX, No. 432, April 8, 1865. Complete illustrated newspaper featuring a front-page wood engraving titled “Raising the Stars and Stripes Over the Capitol at Columbia, South Carolina,” depicting the American flag being raised above the South Carolina State House following the Union occupation of the city. Also illustrated on the front page is “The Fifteenth Corps Crossing the South Edisto,” showing Union troops advancing through South Carolina during the closing weeks of the Civil War.

Good to very good condition. Light overall toning with scattered edge wear, small chips, and short tears along the margins, consistent with age and handling.
