Confederate States of America $500 bond issued under the Act of Congress of March 23, 1863, featuring the engraved heading "Confederate States of America" and an illustration of the Tennessee State Capitol at Nashville. The bond is printed for a principal value of five hundred dollars and retains seven attached interest coupons along the lower margin. Measuring approximately 14 x 14.5 inches, the bond bears printed signatures of the Register of the Treasury and is representative of the Confederate government's efforts to finance the Civil War through long-term public debt.

Condition is fair overall with expected age toning, scattered foxing, fold lines, and handling wear. The bond exhibits substantial losses along the upper edge and upper corners. The remaining attached coupons show expected wear but are intact.
