Jacob Besser autographed Japanese Government-issued 5 Centavos occupation currency note. Printed for circulation in the Japanese-occupied Philippines during World War II, the note has been signed by Besser in blue ink across the center of the face. The reverse displays the ornate engraved design characteristic of the series.

Jacob Besser (1921-1992) served as the radar specialist aboard the Boeing B-29 Enola Gay during the atomic bombing mission over Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. A member of the 393rd Bombardment Squadron, 509th Composite Group, Besser was responsible for operating the aircraft’s radar systems during the historic mission. He later participated in veterans’ reunions and efforts to preserve the history of the Enola Gay crew and the 509th Composite Group.
