Included are No. 219, John Robins, the Sailor and No. 284, Lydia Sturtevant; or, The Fatal Resolution: An Authentic Narrative by Rev. Eliakim Phelps. Both pamphlets feature period typography and are representative examples of the inexpensive evangelical literature widely distributed throughout the United States during the mid-nineteenth century.

John Robins, the Sailor recounts the spiritual transformation of a seaman, emphasizing repentance, redemption, and Christian faith, and includes a woodcut illustration on the title page along with devotional verse.
