Details:
Original handwritten land indenture dated July 17, 1788, documenting a conveyance between Dr. Thomas Parker of Pittsburgh, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and William Alexander of Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Written on a large laid paper sheet measuring approximately 10.5 x 17 inches, the document concerns the transfer of a tract of land and plantation in Bullskin Township, Fayette County, including reference to an old Indian fort and adjoining lands. The deed traces the property’s chain of title through earlier conveyances, including grants to Henry Cook, and details approximately 200½ acres with allowance, together with associated rights, appurtenances, rents, and services. Signed by Thomas Parker with his paper seal and witnessed by John Buchanan and James Patton Boyd.
In overall good condition with expected age toning, fold lines from original filing, scattered foxing and light staining, minor edge wear and small chips, and a few ink smudges. The paper seal remains present and intact, and the manuscript text is dark, legible, and well preserved throughout.
