Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper, New York, April 12, 1862. Civil War-era illustrated newspaper featuring front-page coverage of the Battle of Winchester, including the engraving “Central Division of Gen. Shields’s Naval Battery of Boat Howitzers, under Capt. Moore of the Excelsior Guard, at the Battle of Winchester, Va., March 23, 1862.” Also featured is a dramatic illustration depicting the escape of the Union steamers Nashville, Gemsbok, and Cambridge from the harbor at Beaufort, North Carolina under cover of darkness. The issue contains additional illustrated Civil War news and reports from the spring 1862 campaigns.

Good condition. Folded as issued with expected age toning, scattered foxing, moderate handling wear, and edge chipping, most notably along the right margin.
