Samuel Dick autograph document signed (ADS), entirely in his hand, two pages, approximately 7.25 x 12.25". The document is an allowance of an estate account prepared during Dick's tenure as Surrogate of Salem County, New Jersey. The text certifies that he examined the accompanying account and vouchers, approving the charges and allowances. The document is signed twice by Dick, including a large signature as "Sam'l Dick Surrogate," and is also contains the sworn statement of administratrix Mary Carroll regarding the estate of Samuel Craig, deceased. The verso features a detailed manuscript accounting ledger, also entirely in Dick's hand, recording payments and charges from 1772 through 1774.

Very good condition with expected age toning, fold lines, scattered foxing, and light edge wear. Minor losses are present at the upper and lower margins, with a few small archival tape remnants visible on the reverse.

Samuel Dick (1740-1812) was an American physician, Revolutionary War officer, and statesman from New Jersey. He served as an assistant surgeon in the Continental Army during the Canadian campaign, later commanded the Salem County militia as a colonel, and represented New Jersey in the Confederation Congress in 1784 and 1785. Dick also served as a delegate to the 1787 New Jersey convention that ratified the United States Constitution and was Surrogate of Salem County for nearly two decades.
