Original aluminum newspaper printing plate used in the production of the Los Angeles Times Inauguration Edition published January 21, 2009, commemorating the inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States. Measuring approximately 12 x 23 inches, the plate reproduces the newspaper’s iconic front page featuring the banner headline, “Obama calls for hope in face of cold reality,” with the subheading, ”‘The work of remaking America’ has begun.” The image depicts President Obama taking the oath of office while First Lady Michelle Obama holds the Lincoln Bible. Four registration holes remain at the corners from the printing process.

Very good condition. Light surface wear, scattered handling marks, and minor edge wear consistent with use in newspaper production. An impressive surviving production artifact from one of the most historically significant newspaper front pages of the 21st century.
