Weightman, 1814. Issued by order of the United States Senate on November 5, 1814, the publication contains extensive printed correspondence relating to the administration, organization, and financing of the United States military during the War of 1812, including multiple printed statements and letters signed in type by Secretary of War James Monroe.

Compiled only months after the British capture and burning of Washington, the report presents official War Department communications addressing military appropriations, recruiting, ordnance, troop organization, and the expansion of the nation’s armed forces as the conflict entered its decisive phase.
