Description
20x30 This is an original color lithograph propaganda poster from the World War I era, titled Beat Back the Hun, created by American artist Frederick Strothmann for the United States Fourth Liberty Loan campaign circa 1918. The composition features a demonized portrayal of an Imperial German soldier peering over a trench wall. The soldier is depicted wearing a simplified Pickelhaube helmet, with a blood-stained bayonet and hands, set against a vibrant yellow background. The lower portion of the poster displays the text Beat back the HUN with LIBERTY BONDS in bold lettering over a blue-green field. The plate signature F. Strothmann is visible in the lower right corner of the image area, and the printer mark 3 B is located in the lower left margin. The poster is housed in a modern black metal frame with a corrugated cardboard backing.
