This Cadet model 1873 was built by Springfield Armory in 1893 and is chambered in .45-70. It features a 29 1/2" barrel with blade front sight and Buffington rear sight. The rear of the barrel is marked with the "VP" Eagle and "P" proof marks. The breach door is marked "US Model 1873" and the lockplate has a faded "US Springfield" with Eagle crest. The walnut stock houses the cleaning rod. is fitted with a steel butt plate, and each side of the rear stock is stamped "EAVES". LOP: 13 1/2". CALIBER/GA: .45-70. S/N: 565559. FFL STATUS: Antique.
