Description
This Springfield Model 1884 was built in 1891 and is chambered in .45-70. It features a blade style front sight and a Buffington rear sight. The walnut stock houses the cleaning rod bayonet, is fitted with a steel butt plate with compartment door, and has an 1891 Samuel Porter Inspection Cartouche on the left wrist. The breach door is marked "US Model 1884" with the "VP" Eagle and "P" markings on the rear of the barrel. Markings on the lock plate are not visible. Rod release button and firing pin appear to be very stiff. LOP: 13 1/2". CALIBER/GA: .45-70. S/N: 514060. FFL STATUS: Antique.
