Description
This model 1884 carbine made by Springfield Armory in mid 1889 and chambered in 45-70. It features a 22" round barrel with a blade style front sight with added hood and a 1877 carbine style rear adjustable sight. The rear of the barrels has the "VP" Eagle and "P" cartouches. The breach door is marked "US Model 1884". The lockplate on the right sight has "US Springfield" with Eagle crest and left side is fitted with saddle ring. The walnut stock appears to be refinished and sanded with "14" stamped into the right side. Metal butt plate is marked "US" on top loosely held by butt plate screws. LOP: 13 1/4". CALIBER/GA: .45-70. S/N: 457780. FFL STATUS: Antique.

FAIR - Good mechanics and shiny bore. Butt plate does not fit flush.
