Footnotes: Steven Spielberg's film, Saving Private Ryan (1998) was in part inspired by the story of The Fighting Sullivans, the story of a family who loses all five of their sons to war. A star-studded premiere was held at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on February 23, 1944, to benefit the Naval Aid Auxiliary, which was a non-profit women's volunteer organization of which many leading ladies were members.
