Description
A Super Rare Set of 6 Antique Flow Black Ironstone Plates "Athens" by W. Adams, Circa 1850's
Made by William Adams & Sons, registry date mark of 1849. Most likely made in the 1850's.

Athens Pattern.
Set of 6 plates. Exceptional colouring, Flow Black, similar to flow blue, & flow mulberry, just a little darker and a slightly iridescent. A striking set of plates. We have only ever handled a few pieces of Flow Black, as it harder to find. These plates have probably lived their entire lives together, judging by the condition.
