Set of Three Antique Minton Fine English Porcelain Botanical Flower Spray Plates. Minton was founded in 1793, and became one of England's most prestigious ceramic manufacturers. Plates feature hand-painted floral specimens tied with a ribbon, rendered in soft, naturalistic colors against a warm ivory background. The plates feature scalloped edges delicately highlighted with gilt, adding an elegant frame to the botanical compositions. Each plate displays a distinct flower spray, executed in the manner of 19th century botanical illustration with careful attention to petal form, foliage, and color gradation. The ribbons add a charming trompe-l'oeil effect. Flower spray plates such as these were often produced for dessert or cabinet display.
