An exceptional large-scale Japanese blue and white porcelain charger featuring a majestic hawk perched among ancient pines overlooking a mountainous landscape. Executed entirely in cobalt blue underglaze, the composition displays remarkable artistic detail, from the individually rendered pine needles and layered rock formations to the finely painted plumage of the hawk.

The charger's impressive 19-inch diameter creates a dramatic display piece, while the balanced construction gives it a refined feel that is substantial without being excessively heavy. The quality of the porcelain body and painting suggest a skilled workshop production intended for decorative display.

Particularly noteworthy are the five original kiln spur marks visible on the underside. These firing supports were used during production to prevent the piece from adhering to kiln surfaces and are a traditional feature often found on quality porcelain. The charger also retains its original underglaze blue seal mark on the base.
