Description
BRITISH VINTAGE SILVER MUG Description: This vintage British silver mug comes with all the necessary markings, including a lion stamp, a London Silver Appraisal Bureau stamp, a date stamp corresponding to 1849 (the Victorian era), a craftsman's name stamp (CTF.GF., Charles Thomas Fox & George Fox), and a Queen's portrait tax stamp. This mug was crafted in the early 19th century during the collaboration of Charles Thomas Fox and George Fox, the two sons of Charles Fox II, owners of a renowned British goldsmithing company. Fox Company was one of the last individualistic goldsmithing companies before the collapse of mass production in the Victorian era, specializing in exquisite neoclassical and Victorian tableware and frequently accepting commissions from prominent London silver retailers such as Lambert and Asprey. This mug features an extremely rare, hand-carved, openwork base, making it a unique and one-of-a-kind design. The entire surface is decorated with the traditional European Motif of Morris, with a noble family crest in cursive script at the center of the front. The interior retains its original gilding. Dimensions: 90*75*75mm, Weight: 165g, Capacity: 200ml
