A marvelous find for the early toy or phonograph enthusiast, this lot features three light blue celluloid-over-cardboard phonograph voice cylinders manufactured by the Universal Talking Toys Co. of Newark, New Jersey, during the 1920s. Designed specifically for mechanical talking dolls like the famous Mae Starr and Madame Hendren dolls, these cylinders are topped with distinctive metal caps featuring dual finger holes for easy removal from the inner mandrel. The titles stamped into the rims include "Mother Hubbard," "Old Mother Hubbard," and "Rock A Bye Baby," offering a delightful glimpse into early 20th-century interactive play. Structurally sound, the group displays age-appropriate wear, including minor oxidation and surface discoloration on the metal end plates, light scuffing on the blue celluloid bodies, and typical softening along the exposed cardboard edges.
