Description:
An American pieced cotton quilt of rectangular form featuring a triple Irish chain pattern composed of hand-pieced 1-inch squares in red, orange, and green on a white ground, the central field enclosed by a solid green and white sawtooth border and hand-quilted throughout, the construction and documentation in consignor records being consistent with 19th-century examples from Dorchester, Maryland.

The quilt exhibits generalized surface staining, localized areas of discoloration, and minor fraying to the pieced elements and edges consistent with use, with a visible age crack or separation to the fabric at one margin, though no technical analysis of the textile fibers or dye stability has been conducted to confirm its precise origin or period of manufacture.
