Description
This Wedgwood ring stand is constructed of solid blue Jasperware stoneware with white applied bas-relief sprigged decoration. The form consists of a tall, tapering central spire topped with a small knob, resting on a wide, flared circular base. The spire is ornamented with two rope-twist bands, and the top knob features a single rosette. The flared lower section is decorated with vertical acanthus-style scrolling foliate motifs, while the bottom edge is finished with a continuous scrolling leaf border. The underside of the base is impressed with the WEDGWOOD manufacturer mark. The piece retains several significant provenance and collection labels, including a silver circular sticker for the Rubin Collection, a Phillips auction label from The Harry Sheldon Collection dated October 14, 1998, a Skinner auction sticker from 1994 for lot 784.
