Peter Bacigalupi (1855–1925) was an American businessman and a key pioneer in the early entertainment, phonograph, and motion picture industries. He is most famous for being a leading distributor of Thomas Edison's inventions on the West Coast and an early creator of public entertainment venues. After returning north and visiting the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, Bacigalupi was captivated by Edison's electric phonograph. He secured rights to sell the technology and became the dominant Edison wholesaler (jobber) in the western United States. His "Edison Phonograph Agency" was a staple nameplate affixed to audio hardware in San Francisco. He was one of the first entrepreneurs to open public "Exhibition Parlors" and Penny Arcades. For a small fee, the public could listen to audio cylinders or view early motion pictures. Beyond selling Edison products, Bacigalupi manufactured his own rare local audio cylinders in San Francisco as early as 1896. 4.5" tall,2.5" in diameter. From ther Allen Koenigsberg collection.
