Signed studio kinetic pendant designed by famed Finnish sculptor and designer, Tapio Wirkkala ( 1915 -1985) . Fashioned from Sterling Silver this kinetic pendant is known as the "crescent moon" ) Kuun Sirppi). Futuristic and modernist in design; elongated inverted T shape body from which dangle graduated semi circle, half moon slices which move along with the wearer. Simple O ring bale. According to the research the piece was designed by Wirkkala in the 1960s and produced in the early 1970s by Finnish jeweler, Nestor Westerback whose initials appear in the hallmark. Hallmarked: NW / crown stamp / 925 / U7. This mark belongs to the company called Tapio Veli Ilmari Wirkkala, established in Hanko, Finland in 1915 .Approx 14.2 grams.
