Description
A true classic from the golden age of American hi-fi. This matching pair of Advent Legacy Floor Standing Speakers loudspeakers was designed by Henry Kloss and manufactured in about 1975. Renowned for their exceptional balance, deep bass extension, and natural sound, these speakers remain a favorite among audiophiles and collectors today.Highlights:
Original owner – meticulously cared for in a smoke-free home since new in 1975.
* Perform flawlessly with no refoaming required (foam surrounds are intact, see photos)
* Iconic bullnose walnut (or pecan) tops and solid, acoustic suspension cabinets
* Classic 2-way configuration: powerful 10" woofers paired with the signature "fried egg" dome tweeters
* Rated for 50 watts at 4ohms – deliver rich, room-filling sound with remarkable clarity and imaging
* Minor cosmetic cone imperfections (small rips in paper) on one woofer"”fully functional with no audible issues
These Advent Speakers feature the desirable rounded bullnose styling that distinguishes them from earlier models. They offer tremendous performance-per-dollar and pair beautifully with both vintage receivers (Pioneer, Marantz, Sansui) and modern amplifiers.
A fantastic addition to any mid-century or traditional listening room, home office, or collection. In excellent original condition with only minor signs of careful use consistent with their age.
Dimensions (approx. per speaker): 28.5" H x 16" W x 10" D
Weight: Heavy and substantial (~45–50 lbs each)
Feel free to message with questions or for additional photos. A rare opportunity to own a well-preserved piece of audio history!
Condition:
Alterations: Original Condition Unaltered
Imperfections: Some Imperfections
Condition Notes: The wood trim pieces (tops and front-bottoms) show honest signs of normal use over nearly 50 years in living spaces. I lightly sanded and re-stained them for improvement, but some light scratches, marks, and a faint glass ring on one top remain visible under close inspection or strong lighting. These are purely cosmetic, consistent with the age of the speakers, and do not detract from the overall attractive appearance or structural integrity. The cabinets are otherwise solid with no major damage, water issues, or loose veneers. See photos.
Internally, there are a couple of very small cosmetic imperfections/rips in the paper cone of one woofer. I consider them minor, since I have never experienced any impact on sound quality"”the speakers perform flawlessly with full, rich bass and no distortion, buzzing, or rattling even at higher volumes. I am told this is common on vintage cones after 50 years. See photos.
