A beautiful and historically significant piece of mid-century American folk art with immaculate, fully verified hospitality provenance. Painted en plein air on October 13, 1952, by regional artist R.F.H., this vibrant autumn scene captures a historic property in Scotrun, Pennsylvania, nestled in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. The property owner at the time, Eric Danisch, was a legendary pioneer of the Pocono resort boom. In 1946, he transformed this original, abandoned farm site into the famous Brookdale Lake Lodge (later known as Caesars Brookdale Resort).

The artwork features a fascinating trail of handwritten history on both sides: Front Left: Features the artist's monogram signature and location shorthand, "R.F.H. Scot Run, PA. "Front Right: Dated at the absolute peak of autumn foliage season, "10/13/1952." Reverse Inscription 1: Hand-written by the artist to document the exact scene: "Former Old Barn on Danish Estate 10/13/52. Scot Run PA RFH. The house now Harder Cottage" (named for Danisch's wife, Augusta Harder). Reverse Inscription 2: A gorgeous presentation note dated August 3, 1972, from returning resort vacationers: "To Mr. + Mrs. Eric Danisch who have given us vacationers many a happy hour. Roy and Naomi Hammond."
