Description
This iconic Paul Mayen rattan wicker Beehive Lamp was designed in 1965. It features three sturdy tripod hairpin legs holding a hive-shaped, woven shade. The bulb is nestled in the middle of the 'hive', providing an ambient glow through the warm rattan. The wide, sturdy base of this lamp also makes it suitable as a floor lamp for low-level mood lighting.
Mayen was a Spanish Architect and industrial designer trained in New York. He is most notably known for creating the visitor center, cafe, and gift shop at Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. Two of his designs are permanently on display at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in the Department of Industrial Design. Paul Mayen was known for his minimalist furniture designs and was the founder of Habitat, Intrex, and Architectural Supplements Inc.
