Original 1st edition lithograph entitled "Sea Otter" (No. 28, Plate CXXXVII) from John James Audubon's celebrated Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America. Drawn from nature by John W. Audubon and printed and colored by the renowned Philadelphia firm of J.T. Bowen, this authentic 19th-century wildlife print was issued in 1849.

The composition depicts a sea otter perched on a rocky shoreline holding a freshly caught fish, rendered with the remarkable detail and naturalism that made the Audubon family's works among the most important natural history publications of the 19th century.
