This item is a mid to late 20th-century reproduction of the original late 19th-century design by Shepard Hardware Co. The figure stands upon a rectangular base finished in red and blue paint. The front of the base displays the raised text UNCLE SAM above an embossed eagle, while the side of the base features the raised text BANK. The bank operates via a hand-lever located on the rear of the platform; when depressed, the figure's right arm moves to drop a coin into the red carpet bag while the chin and beard move in a talking motion. A paper label is affixed to the top of the hat displaying the HIMARK logo and the text MADE IN TAIWAN REPUBLIC OF CHINA. The underside of the base is incised with the word TAIWAN and the letter A.
