A collection of three lithic artifacts representing pre-contact Native American utility tools. The group consists of two pitted nutting stones, also referred to as anvil stones or pitted cobbles, and one elongated hand stone or pestle. These items are composed of dense, fine-grained stone, likely sandstone or siltstone, characterized by river-worn or glacial cobble origins. The manufacturing process utilized pecking and grinding techniques. The two rounded specimens feature distinct, centrally located circular depressions consistent with food processing tasks, such as cracking nuts, or secondary use as anvil stones for lithic reduction. The elongated stone shows signs of smoothing from handling and potential use as a grinding or mulling tool. Each item exhibits a natural, weathered surface patina consistent with age and long-term exposure.
