Description
Designed in 1959 by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, the "Egg" chair is an enduring icon of modern design. This rare first-generation example, produced in 1978, features the original form with high, sculpted sides and a gracefully curved back that envelops the sitter in privacy and comfort. Upholstered in supple calf leather, the chair and matching ottoman rest on four-star bases of chromed steel, combining organic contours with industrial precision. Initially conceived for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, the Egg chair remains one of Jacobsen’s most celebrated works. Retains the original Fritz Hansen manufacturer’s labels. The leather shows a warm patina and minor surface wear consistent with age, enhancing its vintage authenticity.
