An original watercolor painting by Evelyn Thompson, nee Brown, Scottish artist late 19th century into the early 20th century, "Dawn" a portrait of Alexa Thompson before 1919 (probably the artist's daughter), 12" x 9 1/4", a profile portrait of a lovely, young strawberry blond Scottish woman wearing a white head covering and blouse with bow, signed Evelyn Thompson in the lower left corner front, a small foxing mark is on the blouse below the bow, on the revers is inscribed - Alexa Thompson before 1919, CA number 3924, CA purchased late summer of 2023 from an Edinburgh auction house.
The work has been cleaned, re-matted in White Museum matboard with line, Conservation Clear Glass, museum backing, framed in Abe Munn 1 1/2" antiqued silver reverse moulding. The moulding is antiqued and distressed.
Evelyn Thompson lived at 18 Academy Street, Ayr, Scotland. She exhibited works from 1909 to 1939 at the Arlington Gallery, London and the Glasgow Institute of the fine arts.
