Georges Rouault (1871-1958) was an important French painter and artist who created a personal style of Expressionism that gives him a highly distinctive place in Modern Art. He attended Ecole des Beaux Arts along with Matisse, was the curator of the Musee Moreau and a founder of the Salon d'Automne. His work hangs in many important museums, including Centre Pompidou and Musee d'Orsay in Paris, London's Tate and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York.
